The 17-year-old, who is able to make the move due to the fact that he has a European passport, started for Schalke as the A-Junioren Bundesliga West got underway, helping them to a 3-0 victory over Aufsteiger SV Rödinghausen.
While there has been no official confirmation of the player’s move at this point, or details of whether his move is a permanent transfer or loan deal, their coach, Norbert Elgert, does seem to have been impressed with his start at the club.
He told reviersport.de, “He only came to our training camp, and played surprisingly quickly thanks to strong performances.”
The teenager, a product of the Black Aces academy, is also expected to play some role for Schalke tonight when they take on their counterparts from Köln, as the youngster looks to make sure his side stay on top of the U19 Bundesliga table.
Cross, a South African youth international, will be hoping to make a name for himself in Germany and begin a climb up the ladder in Europe.
