Alex Black Aces were beaten 4-1 by Baberwa FC in their ABC Motsepe league match played at the Alexandra Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Baberwa beat Alex Aces 4-1 through goals by Own Goal, Dolly, Mathoho and Makhanda while Norrdien Williams scored for Aces.

Baberwa, with new coach Jabulani Mendu at the helm, started the match and immediately went on the offensive but found young keeper, Alexi Appolanatos in sublime form.

The hosts eventually cracked open the Gold City Giants in the 40th minute when captain Bradley Cross unfortunately scored an own goal.

The heavens then opened with a massive downpour and the poor drainage at the Alexandra Stadiums pitch saw massive puddles which virtually made play impossible with the large pools of water stopping the ball in its tracks.

Soon after the interval Baberwa doubled their lead but Aces virtually immediately fought back when substitute Noordien Williams reduced the deficit to 1-2.

Another two late goals within the space of 2 minutes saw Baberwa win comfortably 4-1.

The loss left Aces in position 11 on the log while Baberwa moved up to 7th, 12 points off the pace of Maccabi FC with 9 games to play.

Aces will next host Pretoria Callies on Saturday 17 February at the Greek Sporting Club.
