Bad day for Aces

The wheels came off the Gold City Giants who lost 5-0 to African All Stars in Linksfield this afternoon.

Aces revival came to a grinding halt and their 4-game unbeaten run was ruined by an impressive African All Stars.

Stars were on the scoreboard in the 6th minute when their number 2 scored a rather soft goal and it was the same player who again could of scored momnets later when he headed wide of an open goal.

Theo Mbiyozo played his heart out in a loosing cause and it was him who cracked a ball through a wall from a freekick, that got Aces heads up after chasing shadows.

In the 18th minute the Ekuruleni boys nearly doubled their lead and Sakala immediately sent his rather thin bench of four to warm-up.

To Aces credit they did lift their heads and nearly equalised in the 43rd minute when Tebogo Mathopa delightfully chipped the defence and saw his floated ball hit the top of the crossbar.

Colleen Zimba came on for Obert Rukato at the start of the second half but it was a rather mediocre defnce that was the problem on the day.

All Stars doubled their lead in the 53rd minute after Clinton Davids had spectacularly parried a goal bound shot out for a corner. The resultant spotkick was headed home by that man, number 2.

The day got worse for Aces momnets later when Milano Sampson received his marching orders for a 2nd yellow card.

African All Stars, who brought a load of fans, then scored number 3 in the 70th minute, number 4 in the 72nd and number 5 in the 86th minute.

It was a day to forget for Aces and they must quickly regroup as they have now dropped to 13th on the log while Amazozo leapt to 2nd behind Maccabi FC.

Aces next gamne is against Lerumo United next Saturday at the Greek Sporting Club.
