New coach Jacob Sakala did change some of team, notably giving Collen Zimba his first start of the season, but a goal in each half condemned the Gold City Giants to their 5th league loss.
The coach will also be dissapointed with the discipline as for the 2nd game in succession, Aces ended the game with 10-men after captain Tsietsi Mahoa received his marching orders.
Aces did put up a spirited display and also watched as their keeper Thembikosi Mbiyozo was stretchered off in the 39th minute for a severe ankle injury.
A few minutes later, replacement keeper Clinton Davids, who was barely warm, simply watched as Maccabi opened the lead with a deft shot.
Midway through the second half, Lebogang Sithole replaced Ermano Barends and Kurt Pienaar came on for Milano Sampson as Aces went three at the back and took the attack to the Balfour Park hosts.
That obviously was a high risk tactic but kudo's to Sakala for trying, but this strategy left gaping holes at the back and credit to Clinton Davids for keeping Aces in the game.
In injury time Maccabi again broke through and doubled their lead and with that back to the top of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe league.
