This week was about catching up some postponed SAFA Gauteng Development Games.

RESULTS

Wed 20 September

Black Aces U-17 0 – 2 Highlands Park U-17

Coaches COMMENT

The boys played better football but did not create enough opportunities in the final 3rd.

The opposition were much bigger and stronger than us and this was the difference between the 2 teams.

Played 6 U15 boys and was impressed with their performance.

Sunday 24 September

Uni of Pretoria U-13 3 – 2 Black Aces U-13

Aces GS: Thabane Cele, Karol Retsos

Coaches COMMENT

We played an offensive formation and line-up with the knowledge we could keep possession better than Tuks.

Unfortunately poor discipline and individual defensive errors gave Tuks the lead early on.

Aces pushed to recover 2 goals and missed a few more but it was too late.

The boys never gave up and I hope will soon come to realise the importance of good tactical discipline and clinical defensive habits.

Uni of Pretoria U-15 3 – 3 Black Aces U-15

Aces GS: Andreas Lambiris, Corban Jacobs, Vusimusi Tshabalala

Coaches COMMENT

A very temperamental game as expected, seeing that we just beat them last weekend and they were desperate to avenge that defeat.

The less said about the referee the better, as his extremely biased officiating created chaos after chaos when he literally helped Tuks come back and draw the match after being 3-1 down.

It was a real test of character for our boys to learn to keep their calm even though some key decisions were going against them.

On the flip side of things, this is a good lesson for them because this is what they will encounter in the senior leagues and other international games. They need to have gone through this 1st at development level.

This is a “good” lesson we took home.

Uni of Pretoria U-17 1 – 2 Black Aces U-17

Aces GS: Tyler Loggenberg, James McFarlane

Coaches COMMENT

Great 1st half. The boys ball retention was really good and totally dominated the game. Went 1-0 up with a great strike from Tyler.

Allowed Tuks back into the game in the 2nd half but overall a great performance.
