Coaches’ Assessments

Alex Black Aces U13

A much better all-round performance from the squad. All the goals came from good team build-up play and some wonderful combinations with some clinical finishing – including headers.

A clean-sheet is important as the four goals. Well done to our defence and to Joshua Adank, our goalkeeper.

The team took a big knock when Keitu Mphomane broke his collarbone in the first five minutes and initial assessments is that he will be out for six weeks. Our thoughts go out to him. Keep strong Keiti.

Today’s captain: Jason Pengelley

Alex Black Aces U15

Team started off well with good inter-passing and positional exchanges in the finishing phase, resulting with a nice plug of the ball into the net by left-winger Vusimusi.

Team went off the boil a bit immediately thereafter resorting to more wasted long balls.

Players came out much better in the 2nd half, rotating the ball more nicely and creating and moving into right spaces. This helped open up the game and resulted in us scoring three additional goals.

Individually, while a lot of work still needs to be done, most players are stepping up to the plate!

Alex Black Aces U17

Not a great performance overall. The boys struggled to retain possession and our midfield did not impose themselves enough on the game.

The introduction of Jess and AJ in the second half injected some much needed intensity and life into the team’s performance.

Bradley Cross opened the scoring with a well finished goal after a great forward run which started in his own half.

Cosmos equalized after a long pass from Alexi Apollanatos was won by the Cosmos center-back and we were caught unaware.

Cosmos midfielder was able to slice through our defence and slot the ball past Alexi.

We were the better team in the 2nd half creating the majority of goal-scoring opportunities.

The winning goal came when Jess Rom snatched onto a rebound from a great strike by Junior Nare which was initially saved by the Cosmos keeper. It was a great strike hitting the net just under the crossbar.

Well done to the boys for a hard earned 3 points.

Alex Black Aces U19

We scored two goals in the first 20 minutes due to an unorganized Cosmos defence. We could have been more lethal in front of goal but were rushing and taking unnecessary extra touches.

In the second half we defended more due to Cosmos pressure and switched to a more counter attack style of play. We scored our third goal through a corner via a training run set piece which we have been working on.

A good result but not the greatest of displays – we can do better!

We appreciate all the support from the parents and our dedicated coaches.
