Its with extreme sadness that we learnt of the ex Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana coach, Jeff Butler's passing away.

Butler had a number of stints as Chiefs’ head coach‚ in 1988 to 1989‚ 1991‚ 1992‚ and 1995 to 1996 and coached some of Amakhosi’s greats and had much trophy-winning success.

His 1991 and 1992 Chiefs teams were regarded as among the best seen in South Africa.

Spearheaded by the goals of Fani Madida and Shane McGregor‚ with Doctor Khumalo‚ Donald “Ace” Khuse‚ Neil Tovey‚ Chippa Molatedi‚ Wellington Manyathi and Trevor Mthimkhulu in midfield and Lucas Radebe‚ Howard Freese and Gardner Seale in defence‚ Chiefs cleaned up.

They won the league‚ Castle Challenge and BP Top 8 in 1991‚ and league‚ Top 8 and BobSave SuperBowl in 1992.

He was a remarkable coach and in his unconventional way, always got the best out of his players.

A few years back Mpumalanga Black Aces were in discussions with him over a position as Academy director.

Everyone at Alex Black Aces sends their heartfelt condolonces to his family.

May his soul rest in eternal peace
