Aces Academy WELCOMES David Thorpe

Alex Aces are delighted to announce that the well traveled and experienced David Thorpe will coach our Alex Aces under 14's this season.

Alex Aces Academy, who won the u13 and u15 Gauteng Academy Development League last season, are again expected to be a force in local youth football this season.

Last seasons teams were (in league under-13 position) were: Black Aces FC, Supersport United, Mamelodi Sundowns, Bidvest Wits, Jomo Cosmos, Moroka Swallows, Black Aces FC U12, Rosina Sedibane, University of Pretoria, Kaizer Chiefs FC, Orlando Pirates FC, School of Excellence.

Aces have again entered their teams into the premier youth development league, the SAFA Gauteng Development League and have entered both a pre-academy u12 and u14's in their respective leagues - the ONLY club who have done this.

Our Academy u19's will be an entirely Alexandra based squad who will train under Mxolisi Mngomezulu, the Alex FA's technical director and a CAF A licensed coach.

The full Aces Academy team coaches who will report into academy director Tony Dias are:

1. University of Pretoria, TUKS Football Academy, South Africa

  • Academy: Technical and Administrative Coordinator

 2. UK International Soccer, USA

  • Delivering sessions in the New York and Connecticut, USA

3. Lincoln City Football Club Centre of Excellence

  •  Coaching in a development environment for the Centre of Excellence sides with the aim of creating players that are able to compete in the professional first team

4. Manchester United Soccer Schools International Coach

  •  Working on Long Term International Projects in South Africa, Dubai, Asia and USA, delivering specific coaching programmes tailored to the local market
  • Coaching on short term International Projects in countries such as Asia, Portugal, Australia and Switzerland

 5. Boston United Centre of Excellence

  • Delivering  coaching sessions to the Under 15 age group

 6. England University Coach

  • Coach England University Representative Squad

  • The FA Age Appropriate Level One Module
  • South African Football Association Introduction Course
  • The FA Age Appropriate Introductory Module
  • FA Youth Coaches Course ( U11/12-16yrs)
