MPUMPALANGA BLACK ACES FOOTBALL CLUB - AMAZAYONI

Featured Player: Mphophotwane Mothogwane

Alexandra Black Aces stand-in captain Mothogwane Mphophotwane has shown maturity in the absence of team leader Clifford Ngobeni.

Mothogwane was handed the captain’s armband after Ngobeni was sidelined by an injury last month. The defensive minded star has not put a foot wrong since being made captain and has not allowed the pressure of leading Aces get the better of him. The former Mamelodi Sundowns development player has instead used the opportunity to cement his place in the team. Mothogwane started the campaign slowly but was able to force his way into the team as the season progressed.

His biggest strength is his ability to play more than one position. The versatile star has been used in a holding midfield role and in different positions in defence. No which position he plays, you can always expect him to excel. Mothogwane is comfortable with the ball at his feet and can play the ball out of defence with ease, making him one of the best ball playing defenders in the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

His passes out of defence allow his more attack-minded teammates to quickly hit opposition teams on the counter attack. Speedy attackers such as Shaune Mogaila and Zanele Mbiyozo have benefited a lot from Mothogwane’s clinical passes and vision.

With Amazayoni welcoming Vaal Professionals to the Greek Sporting Club on Saturday, the ever green Mothogwane will surely continue leading his teammates with excellence as he is slowly becoming one of the most trusted players in the Aces set-up. The Gold City Giants will be looking for their third consecutive win against Vaal Professionals. Match kickoff is at 15h00.
